XCap develops, produces and sells batteries for light aviation, storage and propulsion; only lithium-based materials are used. Nowadays the family of commercially available lithium materials consists of six kinds. The three newest members are used only: LFP, LMO and NMC.
Their full names are: Lithium Ferro Phosphate or LiFePO4, Lithium Manganese Oxide (LiMNnO4) and Lithium Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2).
These various chemistries have different properties, but one is common: they are by far the safest. Batteries for aircraft are a trade-off between safety and performance. The specific energy of NMC equals that of LCO (e-bike batteries) but is sligthly lower than the NCA-cell which is used by Tesla. Safety however is far better.
This website is dedicated to supply for light aircraft, especially for gliders. For more general information, please refer to our main site: http://xcapbatteries.com
